On 31st August 2017, Ambassador Thomas J.C. Chen was invited by Ms. Poppy Khoza, Chairwoman of National Disaster Management Board, to attend a donation ceremony of 300 tonnes of rice to the Kingdom of Swaziland. Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini received the donation on behalf of the Kingdom. Ambassador Chen mentioned that, in the light of serious drought facing Swaziland in 2015 and 2016, the government of the Republic of China on Taiwan handed over 260 tonnes of rice to Swaziland in 2016 and this year’s consignment of 300 tonnes of rice will, once again, come to the rescue of needy Swazi brothers and sisters. Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini, on behalf of His Majesty, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the contribution made by the Republic of China on Taiwan. He emphasized that the donation showed the benefit of Swazi people remained in the center of heart of people in Taiwan.
