The donation ceremony was held at Matsapha Depot on 18 October 2017.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Ambassador Thomas Chen said,“As we are all aware, solid waste that is not properly collected and disposed can be a breeding ground for insects, vermin, and scavenging animals, and can thus pass on air- or water-borne diseases. That’s why solid waste management is essential to public health. These pieces of basic solid waste management equipment are going to help keep small towns clean at all times. ” HRH Prince Hlangusemphi, Minister of Economic Planning and Development and Hon. Phiwayinkhosi Mabuza, Minister of Housing and Urban Development thanked the Taiwanese government for the generous support, especially the continued support in the improvement of service delivery in the country’s local authorities.
