A dragon year themed greeting card to be sent by President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President Lai Ching-te for the Year of the Dragon was unveiled Dec. 18 by the Presidential Office.
During a press event in Taipei City, PO Spokesperson Lin Yu-chan said the card is designed by Yen Po-chun, who used vibrant colors to depict an abstract dragon in the shape of Taiwan island. The creature is the only mythical beast in the Chinese zodiac and is seen as a symbol of nobility and prosperity. The overall design reflects the joyful and festive ambience of the upcoming holiday, she added.
According to the PO, the cards will come in both paper and e-card format. They carry festive greetings from the president and her deputy to global leaders, political figures, friends of Taiwan and members of the diplomatic corps in the country, as well as business leaders and representatives of all sectors of the society.
The President’s and Vice President’s Lunar New Year wishes can be viewed on their official website, where there is an animated version of the greetings card that anyone can send with a personal message to friends and family.
