Ambassador Yui highlighted the close friendship between Taiwan and Saint Lucia, an important ally in the Caribbean. He welcomed Prime Minister Pierre, who is in Washington to attend the U.S.–CARICOM Regional Dialogue in his capacity as Chairman of CARICOM. Amb. Yui expressed hope that these discussions would advance CARICOM’s development and affirmed Taiwan’s readiness to explore trilateral cooperation with the United States and Saint Lucia in the region.
Prime Minister Pierre praised Taiwan’s cooperation initiatives that have benefited the people of Saint Lucia, and reaffirmed his commitment to the friendship between our two nations.
That friendship also shines on the world stage. At this year’s United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Pierre voiced his strong support for Taiwan’s international participation, declaring: “Saint Lucia supports Taiwan’s full membership in the United Nations.”
