Visas
Visitor and Resident Visa Applicants must now apply online at https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, fill out the application form, press the submit button, print out and sign the 2nd page. The completed form and other required documents should be submitted to this office, the MOFA or other ROC'S overseas missions.

- If applying by mail, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped return envelope. In order to ensure security of documents, regular mail return envelope will not be accepted. We recommend a postage service that provides a tracking number. U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS have service from our building. If the application is to be returned by FedEx or UPS , pre-paid return postage and a self-addressed envelope must be provided with the application.
- Remarks:
TECO reserves the right to withhold disclosure of the reasons for disapproval of your visa application and to withhold fees deemed non-refundable.
Applicants who have not reached the age of majority must have the application form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
An R.O.C. citizen who has ever been registered with a household in Taiwan shall be subject to the laws of the Republic of China while in its jurisdiction, which include conscription for military service.

Visitor Visa
Eligible Applicants:
Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other travel documents, intending to stay in the Republic of China for less than six (6) months for the purpose of transit, tourism, visiting relatives, attending a training course, receiving medical treatment, engaging in business, or other permissible activities. American passport holders whose passports are valid over 6 months are eligible for visa exempt entry to Taiwan for up to 90 days no extension. You must have a ticket showing the exit date is before the 90 days expire.

Visitor Visa For Studying Chinese Requirements:
Passport (Valid for at least six months)

Acceptance Letter issued by a university language training center recognized by the Ministry of Education
Proof of financial support (e.g. bank statement)
Study Proposal

Holders of Visitor Visas admitted into Taiwan for the purpose of studying Chinese are required to apply and submit a class attendance record at the local city/county immigration agency, within 60 days after entering Taiwan to extend the duration of stay.
After you have studied for 4 months and register the class for another 3 months or more, you can apply with the Bureau of Consular Affairs to change your visitor visa to a resident visa.
Visitor Visa processing time: Normally 2 (two) to 3(three) weeks.
Please submit your visa application well in advance to insure your visa is approved in time. If you submit your visa application at the last minute, rush delivery will be at the applicant's charge. This office is not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen items sent by mail at the applicant's request.
Resident Visa
Resident visa's must be filled out online at https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw.
When completed, press the submit button, print and sign the 2nd page, and send to this office with the other required documents.
Eligible Applicants:
Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other travel documents, intend to stay in the Republic of China for more than six (6) months for the purpose of joining family, pursuing studies, accepting employment, making investments, doing missionary work, or engaging in other permissible activities.
Visa Validity: A Resident Visa is valid for three (3) months.
Duration of Stay: Subject to Article 22 of the ROC Immigration Law, Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate and a re-entry permit at Immigration Agency within 15 days after their arrival in Taiwan. The permitted duration of stay is indicated on the ARC. Holders of valid ARC's must obtain a re-entry permit to re-enter Taiwan. They may stay in Taiwan as long as the Alien Resident Certificate remains valid. Refer to the Immigration Agency website: http://www.immigration.gov.tw.
Processing Time: Normally 2 (two) to 3(three) weeks if all required documents are provided.
Requirements: The requirements vary for different Resident Visa types (e.g. employment, study, missionary work, applicants from the designated countries etc.). Requirements For Foreign Missionary Workers Applying for Resident Visas
Passport (valid for at least six months)
Completed Visa Application Form Online
Two passport-sized photos (color, showing the front of the face)
Completed Health Certificate (signed by a medical doctor, notarized by a notary public, and certified by TECO) refer to Document Authentication.
License or certificate to prove missionary worker credentials (or a letter issued by the missionary worker’s foreign religious group; must be notarized by a notary public and certified by TECO)
Original invitation letter from the Taiwan church or religious group.
License or certificate (copy) issued by the local government authority where the Taiwan church or religious group is registered
Fees: Money order for US$185.00 payable to TECO
If the applicant's spouse and children intend to join the applicant in Taiwan, we require marriage certificates (for spouses) and birth certificates (for children) which prove their relationship to the applicant. These documents must be certified by TECO. We also require the spouses and children to submit each person passports, photos, the completed and printed online visa application forms, fees, and to provide health certificates (completed within the past 3 months, must be notarized by a notary public and certified by TECO).
Requirements For Foreign Workers Applying for Resident Visas
Passport (valid for at least six months)

Work permit (issued by Taiwan authorities)

Original acceptance letter issued by the college or university in Taiwan with a school stamp on it or an official document issued by the local education authority in Taiwan if the foreign student is enrolled at a local high school or under
Health certificate ( must be completed within the past 3 months, must be notarized by a notary public and certified by TECO
Fees: Money order or cashier's check for US $185.00 payable to TECO
