The special effects will provide viewers with the same firework watching experiences from all sides, said Taipei 101 Chairman Chang Hsueh-shun (張學舜).
The annual show, which this year adopts the theme "love," will involve music, light installations, fireworks and the display of messages, he said.
A total of 16,000 fireworks will be used during the five-minute display, including red and blue heart shapes as a tribute to medical personnel around the world for their efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Chang.
The fireworks will cost NT$25 million (US$886,000), about the same as last year, he added.
The messages will be displayed on the 59th and 60th floors, and the popular Taiwanese song "Hiòng-chiân kiâ (Marching Forward)" by Lim Giong (林強) will be played to boost public morale after a year under the shadow of COVID-19, he said.
