"Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Symposium" was held by the University of Colorado Denver today. Director General Bill Huang was invited to attend the workshop on global disinformation, sharing how Taiwan debunk disinformation and raise citizens' media literacy. He stated that Taiwan has been getting more than 20 million cyber attacks each day and has to deal with over 30,000 pieces of disinformation on a weekly basis, most of which from China. It poses a serious threat to Taiwan's democracy, national security and people's daily life. The Taiwanese government has developed an efficient and transparent mechanism to tackle the problem effectively. It also worked with the civic tech community to expose fake news, moderate the content and raise citizens' media literacy. Taiwan is also willing to share with other liberal democracies its experience and best practices in fending off global authoritarianism's cognitive warfare via avenues such as the "Global Cooperation and Training Framework" (GCTF).
