Director General Amino Chi was delighted to attend the Grand Opening of the Center for #TaiwanStudies at University of California, San Diego on May 6, 2023, and met with Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Simmons, Dean Cristina Della Coletta of School of Arts and Humanities, Founding Director Ping-hui Liao and Associate Director Nancy Guy, and the donors Dr. Chiu-san Chen and Mrs Rufina Chen.
In the Director General Chi‘s remarks, he recognized the generous donation of Dr. Chiu-san Chen and Mrs. Rufina Chen, as well as the great support from the Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego and the Chuan Lyu Foundation. Their contributions to the continued development of Taiwan Studies at UC San Diego will benefit faculty and students in their research while promoting academic collaboration and exchange between the U.S. and Taiwan.
On behalf of Dr. Tsung-Tsong Wu (吳政忠), Minister Without Portfolio of Executive Yuan and Minister of the National Science and Technology Council, Director General Chi gladly presented a proclamation to acknowledge the significance of the UCSD Center for Taiwan Studies to Prof. Ping-hui Liao.
