1920x750

The largest book festival in the United States, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, will take place at the University of Southern California (USC) campus on April 23-24, 2022. The Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles partners with the National Museum of Taiwan Literature for the first time to present “Literature and Migration: Flowing Across Words,” featuring 7 Taiwanese literary works, including The Stolen Bicycle (Ming-yi Wu), Running Mother and Other Stories (Songfen Guo), Drifting (Dominic Cheung), The Soul of Jade Mountain (Husluman Vava), Sailing to Formosa: A Poetic Companion to Taiwan (edited by Michelle Yeh, N. G. D. Malmqvist, and Huizhi Xu), A Guide to Cultivating Well-Read Youth: A Taiwan Literary History Textbook (edited by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature), and Queer Taiwanese Literature: A Reader (edited by Howard Chiang).

Established in 1996, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is held every April at the USC, annually drawing approximately 150,000 attendees. This year, the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles joins with Taiwan Tourism Bureau at the Taiwan Booth, featuring travel literature from Taiwan and lifestyles of health and sustainability. All are welcome to explore Taiwanese literature at Booth #161 and post us on social media to receive a free book!

A whale is designed to be the key visual of the theme, as it flows and swims across the ocean and mountains to reveal the vividness and fantasy of Taiwanese literature. Moreover, associate professor Howard Chiang, editor and translator of LiFT (Literature From Taiwan), is invited to the University of California, Santa Barbara on April 27, 2022 to discuss Taiwanese literature.
