National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was established in 1931 and is located in Tainan, a city known for its cultural heritage and cutting-edge technology. Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan and has the greatest number and density of historical sites, which are not only the treasures of the “Capital City” but also invaluable cultural assets to NCKU.
NCKU’s motto is "Seek for truth; Toil for good," reflecting the university's grounded and focused academic environment that encourages the unwavering pursuit of knowledge and truth.
NCKU graduates have earned the reputation of “the first choice among hiring managers” and “the industry’s favorites” each year since 1993, according to the magazines surveyed. NCKU has seized the first place among Taiwan universities and ranked 33 in the whole world in the 2022 Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education.
Currently, NCKU consists of nine colleges: Engineering, Management, Liberal Arts, Sciences, Medicine, Social Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Planning and Design, and Bioscience and Biotechnology. The university offers 43 undergraduate programs, 36 independent graduate institutes, and 9 degree programs.
