Deputy Assistant Representative Mr. Chih-chien Lu hosted the 2022 Taiwan Alumni Association Reunion last week. About 20 TAA members joined this gathering to celebrate the very first in-person reunion of the association since Covid-19.
Mr. Lu welcomed all the alumni, briefed to them on the recent development of Taiwan and introduced to them the scholarship and training programs offered by the Taipei Liaison Office. He also shared with the alumni some of the notable progress recently made on Taiwan-South Africa relations, including the six MOUs/MOAs signed this year between universities or vocational schools in the two countries. The University of Limpopo and the University of Witwatersrand are also two of the top South African universities that have formed partnerships with universities in Taiwan. Mr Lu mentioned that Taiwan is a democratic country and its people are friendly and hospitable. The country is safe with a convenient public transportation system. International visitors often enjoy their visit to Taiwan so much that they do not want to leave.
Mr. Lu then invited a few TAA members to either share their experience in studying in Taiwan or their expectations for their upcoming trips to Taiwan. All the members present were happy to share their thoughts and ideas with other alumni. They also expressed their appreciation for the opportunities offered by the Taiwan Government.
