Those who enter the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on a Resident Visa or get a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and Re-entry Permit at local service centers of National Immigration Agency. Application for ARC must be lodged within 30 days from the next day of arrival, and the application for Re-entry Permit must be lodged within 30 days from the Resident Visa issuance date. Duration of stay is noted on the Alien Resident Certificate.
Requirements for resident visa:
- Resident Visa - Employment
- Resident Visa - Spouse [please also see Remark 1 ~3 at the bottom of this page]
- Resident Visa - Entrepreneur
- Resident Visa - Foreign Students(Full-time PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s program, or senior high school Students and below)
- Resident Visa - Foreign Students (Exchange students)
Please note:
- If you are not Australian, you must provide your valid substantive Australian Visa Grant Notice.
- Required documents originated in states other than Queensland and Northern Territory are required to be authenticated by the TECO office of that consular district before submitting your application to this office. (For example, a police certificate issued by the AFP in Canberra, ACT has to be authenticated by our office in Canberra first.)
- Underage applicants: Must include parent consent form (click here), proof of relationship and parents' valid passport IDs.

Visa Fee (effective from 12/10/2015):
- Single-entry resident visa: AU$94
- Reciprocal processing fee for US passport holders: AU$265
Processing Time:
It generally takes at least 10 business days (2 weeks) to process.
However, as visa applications are approved on a case by case basis, some make take longer time to process. Please allow for ample visa processing time when you plan your trip.
Payment Method:
Cash, bank cheque or money order payable to “ Taipei Economic & Cultural Office, Brisbane”
(We do not accept personal cheques.)
Postal applications should pay by Money Order or Bank Cheque ONLY
Visa /Passport Collection:
Your visa and passport can be picked up in person or by post. Please provide prepaid self-addressed return envelope if you require our office to post it back to you. Please note that we are not affiliated with any postal service providers. We do not cover for any loss, delay or damage caused by posts.

[Remark 2] Australian applicants from Queensland or Northern Territory lodging at this office in Brisbane can also apply for authentication of your QLD/NT National Police Certificate original hardcopies at the same time.
