To authenticate Marriage Certificate issued by the Queensland or Northern Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, please refer to the following requirements and submit your application in person or by post.
Requirements:
- Applicant (and representative, if any) must complete and sign Application Form for Authentication (original).
- Original Marriage Certificate (Standard Version) issued by Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Queensland or Northern Territory.
- Valid passports of both the bride and bridegroom/parties (and your representative’s, if any). R.O.C. citizens should provide their valid R.O.C. passports. For applications by post, please enclose a photocopy of your passports instead.
- Collection: In person or provide a prepaid self-addressed Registered Post or Express Post return envelope for the return of the authenticated documents.
- Authentication Fee:
- AU$22 per document for 5 business days standard application; or
- AU$33 per document for 1 business day urgent application.
Payment Method:
- Lodge in person: cash only.
- Postal applications within Australia: Money Order or Bank Cheque payable to the "Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Brisbane". (Personal cheques will not be accepted.)
- Postal applications from outside of Australia: Bank Draft in Australian Dollars payable to "Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Brisbane". (Personal cheques will not be accepted.)
Collection:
- Applications within Australia: Collect in person or provide a prepaid self-addressed Registered Post or Express Post return envelope for the return of the authenticated documents.
- Applications outside of Australia: Applicants outside of Australia are required to pay postage to have their documents returned by International Recorded Delivery and also fill out an overseas post checklist form. Please refer to Australia Postage List for details.

- If the bride/bridegroom holds a Mainland Chinese passport, previously held a Mainland Chinese passport or was born in China, an interview will be required. Additional documents may be required. Please contact this office for authentication requirements.
- To register your marriage in Taiwan, an authenticated Chinese translation of the QLD/NT Marriage Certificate is usually required alongside the original Marriage Certificate. Please check with the local Household Registration Office in Taiwan for confirmation. If required, the translation has to be in Traditional Chinese and can be done either in Taiwan or in Australia. Should you wish to apply for authentication of a Chinese translation at our office, please see Authenticating Translated Documents for details. The authentication fee for Chinese Translated document is AU$22 per document.
