The second Taiwan Charity Concert in Sydney was a big success, showcasing exquisite artistry with a repertoire that featured cross-cultural and cross-era masterpieces like Australia’s unofficial anthem “Waltzing Matilda” and Lee Che-Yi’s “Makatto Rhapsody.” Both Taiwanese and Australian audiences were deeply moved, earning continuous applause.
Director General David Cheng-Wei Wu enjoyed the passionate melodies from Taiwan with friends such as Tim James, MP, who represented Hon. Mark Speakman, NSW Leader of the Opposition, Ryde City Mayor Trenton Brown, Deputy Mayor Justin Li, Strathfield Mayor Karen Pensabene, and Councilor Barbara Ward of Ku-ring-gai Council. They also witnessed the donation of $10,000 from the concert proceeds to Mary’s House Services, received by its CEO Yvette Vignando.
In his remarks, DG Wu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Richard Lu, Convener of the Concert and President of DCS International of Australia, alongside 21 co-organizers and 15 sponsors, for working jointly to make this event happen. The donation that contributes to addressing domestic and family violence “not only reflects the love from the Taiwanese community but also aligns with Taiwan’s commitment to being a global force for good.”
