Taiwan Film Festival in Australia opening night was held on 25 July at Event Cinema on George St Sydney. Screening of the awarding-winning film " OLD FOX" attracted big crowd. It was a huge success.
We were honored to have the Hon Jacqui Munro MLC, colleagues from Consular Corps and friends from art and film industry join us at this special occasion.
Director General David Cheng-Wei Wu thanked the Festival team, sponsors and fans to make this event more meaningful. This annual Festival not only presents vigorous Taiwanese film industry, but also bridges us to know deeper root of Taiwanese society, culture and value. Australian friends can find how Taiwan live out the democracy and safeguard freedom of speech and arts from our movies. He committed to continue supporting Festival and look forward to having more cultural exchanges.
The audience was excited to meet the director Hsiao Ya-Chuan, who flew from Taiwan through typhoon. He shared some great stories behind the scenes and how he came up with the idea of making this film.
Festival runs in major cities until 14 Sep, including Canberra, Brisbane, Hobart, Adelaide and Melbourne.
