Taiwan and Canada Sign the Arrangement for Mutual Recognition of AEO
The Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of Authorized Economic Operator Program (AEO) and Partners in Protection Program (PIP) between Taiwan and Canada was signed at the 20th Annual Canada-Taiwan Economic Consultations held in Taipei on December 5, 2024. Through the Arrangement, exporters awarded AEO and PIP status from Taiwan and Canada can both enjoy preferential treatment during border clearance.

On December 22, 2023, the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ottawa signed a foreign investment promotion and protection arrangement. This Arrangement is designed to help protect and promote Canadian investments in Taiwan, and Taiwanese investments in Canada.

Memorandum of Understanding Between The Taipei Economic And Cultural Office in Canada And The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei Concerning Science, Technology And Innovation
On April 15th, 2023, the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ottawa signed a Science, Technology and Innovation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU aims to facilitate the cooperations on the industrial technology R&D plans, which allows both parties can provide resources to assist the R&D joint projects.

Amended Arrangement between the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei Regarding the Importation of Beef from Canada
On June 16, 2023 the Government of Canada has regained market access to Taiwan for Canadian beef and beef products from animals over-thirty-months (OTM) of age. This regained access will offer an opportunity to expand Canadian beef exports to Taiwan and diversify export markets in the Indo-Pacific region, while contributing to global food security, benefiting global consumers with access to high-quality beef products
Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cooperation and the Exchange of Information Related to the Supervision of Cross-Border Clearing Agencies Operating as Central Counterparties in Ontario and Taiwan
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan (FSC) concerning regulatory cooperation related to the supervision and oversight of clearing agencies operating as central counterparties (CCPs) in Ontario and Taiwan. The MOU provides a comprehensive framework for consultation, cooperation and information-sharing related to the supervision and oversight of CCPs. The MOU came into effect on March 27, 2023.

An agreement between Taiwan and Canada on double taxation avoidance and fiscal evasion prevention is set to take effect Jan. 1, 2017, the Ministry of Finance announced Dec. 22, adding that the pact will boost investment, expand trade and foster industrial and technological collaboration.
