Taiwan and the Czech Republic announced joint statement on epidemic prevention cooperation
In face of rampant pandemic of COVID-19 in the European countries, and to deepen cooperation on epidemic prevention, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Prague and Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei announced the joint statement on cooperation and partnership of epidemic prevention on April 1, 2020. Both sides agree to strengthen cooperation in research and production of rapid detection kits, vaccines and medicines, and to set up contact window for information sharing. In addition, both sides will exchange on medical materials and equipment supply, and establish a multi-faceted cooperation framework.
During past years, Taiwan and the Czech Republic have promoted cooperation and exchanges in the areas of trade, investment, technology and culture. Both sides have accumulated cooperation experiences in basic science, nuclear safety, advanced education in research and technology exchanges. In recent years, Taiwan has also undertaken extensive exchanges with the Czech Republic in medical technology and talents. Mayor Zdeněk Hřib of Prague, among others, holds high regards to medical development and technology of Taiwan.
Taiwan-Czech joint statement on epidemic prevention cooperation is the first framework signed by Taiwan and a European country, demonstrating Taiwan’s world-renown strength in epidemic prevention. The joint statement facilitates a platform conducive to further cooperation between the two countries, promoting joint research and development of measures in the combat against epidemic such as COVID-19. The joint statement also brings positive influence and contribution to world public health and safeguards medical security of all humanity.
