The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia serves as the representative office of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Malaysia. Its primary mission is to foster bilateral relations between Taiwan and Malaysia, including economic and trade investment, education, culture, science and technology, and tourism. Additionally, the office provides passport services, visa services, and document authentication to both Malaysia nationals and Taiwan citizens abroad.
The office was established as the Consulate in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 1964, and became the Consulate General in 1969. It was officially renamed as Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia on August 17, 1992.
This office has remained dedicated to enhancing Taiwan-Malaysia relations, notably offering educational opportunities for Malaysian students to study in Taiwan and encouraging Malaysian tourists to visit Taiwan. The robust exchange and cooperation between people from both sides have contributed significantly to the bilateral ties. The office has personnel from various government agenceies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Overseas Community Affairs Council, National Immigration Agency, Tourism Administraion, etc.
