A 20-member Taiwan Youth Ambassadors will embark on a 4-day visit to the Philippines to promote people-to-people understanding, extend humanitarian care, and build up genuine friendship by striking a stroke of human touch. Under the group leader Ambassador Fuh Gen-Gang, they will perform at the Liberty Hall of the Filipino-Chinese Cultural and Economic Association, donate Taiwanese rice to the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation, and interact with students from the Ateneo De Manila University and Lyceum of the Philippines University.
Taiwan Youth Ambassadors will stage a public performance at 7 pm on September 13, at the Liberty Hall of the Filipino-Chinese Cultural and Economic Association (Add: 820 Benavidez Street, Binondo, Manila). Their performance, entitled “Energetic New Taiwan”, is open and free to the public. Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin, Representative of Taiwan (ROC) to the Philippines, will deliver the welcome remarks, as he is fervent in promoting cross-culture exchanges and understanding between Taiwan and the Philippines. From Representative Lin’s perspective, both Taiwanese and Filipino youth share many commonalities such as being compassionate, friendly, caring, generous, optimistic, warm, and courteous.
As this year’s theme, “Youth from Taiwan, Compassion for All”, Taiwan Youth Ambassadors in collaboration with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines will donate a total of 500 kilograms of Taiwanese rice to the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation in Alabang Muntinlupa City at 3 pm on September 15. The donation will benefit more than 1, 000 students of the foundation. This generous act shows Taiwan’s willingness to extend its loving care and kindness to its closest southern neighboring country.
Taiwan Youth Ambassadors have gone through a very competitive selection process by the ROC (Taiwan) Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to be included in this year’s roster of Youth Ambassadors. MOFA has selected about a 160 college and university students to be divided into 10 groups. They are scheduled to visit 41 cities in 35 countries in the Asia Pacific, North and Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and West Asia regions.
