The Republic of China (Taiwan) donates 200 oxygen concentrators to help the Philippines amid COVID-19 pandemic
To fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), in cooperation with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), donated 200 oxygen concentrators worth about 6.5 million PHP to the government of the Republic of the Philippines.
The said oxygen concentrators were already handed over to the Department of Health (DOH) and will be distributed to local hospitals to enhance their capacity to treat COVID-19 patients.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tien, Chung-kwang presented the donation to Resident Representative Gilberto Lauengco of MECO at MOFA headquarters on 14 July 2021. Resident Representative Lauengco expressed deep appreciation for Taiwan’s provision of oxygen concentrators to help Filipino brothers and sisters.
Representative Peiyung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines was invited to attend the turnover ceremony hosted by DOH on 31 August 2021. Undersecretary Maria Carolina Vidal-Taiño and Director Cesar Drilon, Jr. of MECO received the donation on behalf of the government of the Philippines.
