Ambassador Peiyung Hsu, Representative and other officials of TECO together with officials from the Philippine Bureau of Fire Protection went to see them off at terminal one of NAIA.
During the 7-day training program in Taiwan, 34 Filipino firefighters will learn a lot about the heavy rescue of car accidents, rope rescue skills, emergency rescue team training and related exercises at the Asian largest National Fire Agency Training Center in Zhushan, Taiwan, which features various environments for firefighting simulations from water to urban terrain.
Similar natural disasters are encountered by both Taiwan and the Philippines due to the geographical proximity. Every year, the Philippines experiences an average of 148 severe natural disasters which put not only the welfare of millions of Filipino people at risk but also their lives. As the closest neighbor, Taiwan is more than willing to share the effective use of modern technology through a tailor-made comprehensive training program for Filipino firefighters and officials in charge of disaster prevention and management.
In the next 3 years, almost 400 Filipino firefighters will be trained in Taiwan. Taiwan looks forward to helping promote public safety in the Philippines.
