Taiwan Tourism Administration and Taiwan Visitors Association led a delegation to promote tourism in the Philippines from 11 to 18 July 2024. During their stay, the delegation participated in the 11th Travel Madness Expo (TME) 2024 and held 2 Taiwan Tourism Workshops, one at Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu (on 16 July) and the other at SMX Convention Center in Davao (on 17 July).
Minister Dustin Teng-shi Yang, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office(TECO) in the Philippines attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the TME and visited the Taiwan Pavilion on 12 July. The exhibition theme of Taiwan Pavilion this year revolved around the globally popular bubble tea, with the incorporation of eco-friendly tourism attractions including 2024 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival, Forest Railway in Alishan National Scenic Area, and Tanya Shen Green Bikeway in Taichung to promote the charm of Taiwan’s rail travel to Filipino tourists and to introduce them to the diverse landscape of Taiwan's tourism resources outside the most visited regions of Taiwan.
During the exhibition from 12 to 14 July, the Taiwan Pavilion invited Taiwan tourism ambassadors Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos, and influencer Angel Dei as special guests to share their exciting experiences in Taiwan with the audience. Moreover, there were a series of captivating performances and interactive games in the Taiwan Pavilion to showcase Taiwan’s vibrant culture and hands-on creativity experiences. The Hoyi Dance Group, known for blending traditional Taiwanese culture with street dance and technology, presented "Fluorescent Guan Jian Shou (The chief general god)" show with T-POP. Other activities included screen printing with Taiwanese-themed designs, bubble tea tasting, rush wovening, traditional silk fan painting, Taiwanese lanterns making, and a fun Taiwan travel quiz.
To enhance the Taiwan-Philippines tourism industry platform, TECO also attended the B2B tourism workshop in Cebu on 17 July to announce that Taiwan has once again extended another year of 14-day visa-free entry for Filipinos until 31 July 2025, and invited all Filipino participants to experience the charms of Taiwan in person.
