In connection to the exhibition project and cooperation between Taiwanese craftsmen and Swedish designers in A New Layer, the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) and the Taipei Mission in Sweden have the honor to donate 22 art objects made in the project to Röhsska Museum.
On the 2nd of February 2017, the Representative to Taipei Mission in Sweden Daniel T.C. Liao visited Göteborg for the donation ceremony held at Röhsska Museum. Representative Liao was accompanied by first secretary Dane Chang, as well as the Swedish designers Matti Klenell and Carina Seth Andersson.
The ceremony opened with Ms. Britta Söderqvist, Director of Röhsska Museum, welcoming all the guests, followed by remarks held by Representative Liao, Mr. Klenell and Ms. Voyvodova, Chairman of Culture Committee. Representative Liao talked about the importance of creating opportunities to enhance Taiwanese-Swedish cultural exchange and where we can deepen the knowledge of each other’s culture. He hoped that these collaborations can arouse the Swedes’ curiosity about our beautiful island and tempt more people to make a trip to Taiwan and experience the diverse culture that Taiwan has to offer. After the remarks, Representative Liao presented one of the donated art objects to Ms. Söderqvist to formally confirm the donation.
The art objects are a gift to the Röhsska Museum and the City of Göteborg to share knowledge about Taiwanese lacquerware in general and the unique A New Layer project in specific.
