Taiwan is rich with its diverse culture, which has the characteristic of embracing different cultures harmoniously. It preserves the traditional Chinese culture and combines tradition with modernity in the open and rapidly changing society; therefore forming its own culture of various features. Since its establishment on May 20, 2012, the Ministry of Culture(MOC) has actively searched for suitable places to set up its overseas offices. Considering that Thailand is a regional cultural hub and its growing communication with other Southeast Asian societies, MOC decided to create a Culture Division under the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand in July 2017.
Goals and Policies
- Use Taiwan’s friendly powers to deepen cultural relations and establish dialogue with the international community.
- Encourage Taiwan’s unique culture power along with its vibrant democracy to win international friendship and to upgrade its cultural soft power
- Cooperate with the art institutions and participate to extend the cultural network
- Bridge the gap between Thailand and Taiwan through cultural exchange visits to promote mutual understanding and learning
Job Description
- Collaborate with the cultural groups and educational institutions in Thailand in promoting cultural exchange activities including film screenings, art performances, music play, literary translations, visual art exhibition, handicrafts, museums, art museum, and cultural heritage etc.
- Introduce Taiwan’s art groups, specialists, and cultural creators to Thailand.
- Raise Taiwan’s profile through cultural display in Thailand and build a positive cultural image of Taiwan.
- Support and assist the cultural groups from Taiwan to impress on Thai people.
