A short film spotlighting Taiwan’s capability to contribute to global health goals was released May 6 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the lead up to the 77th session of the World Health Assembly set to take place May 27-June 1 in Geneva.
Entitled “My Second Home,” the film depicts the true story of an Indonesian girl diagnosed with biliary atresia as an infant through her successful operation and ongoing monitoring checkups. The MOFA added that the piece, presented primarily from the mother’s perspective, was launched just before Mother’s Day.
The lifesaving surgery at National Taiwan University Hospital was organized through Taiwan’s New Southbound Cooperation Project, initiated in 2018. The endeavor facilitates cooperation between top domestic medical centers and their counterparts in New Southbound Policy countries, allowing for the easier sharing of medical techniques and resources through professional training courses.
The colorful logo that appears at the end of the short conveys Taiwan’s eagerness to join hands with the international community to reach the highest standard of health, the ministry said, adding an appeal to the World Health Organization to allow Taiwan’s participation to facilitate a more complete world health system.
According to the MOFA, Chinese and English versions are available on its Trending Taiwan YouTube channel and other social media platforms. Versions with Arabic, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Ukrainian and Vietnamese subtitles are in production and will be publicized on their release.
