Matters Needing Attention
- This Office only provides authentication services for documents originating from the United Kingdom to be used in Taiwan. For documents originating from other countries, please inquire with the Taiwan overseas office in the originating countries.
- Applicants MUST first contact the Taiwanese authorities (employer, immigration, school, etc.) who require these documents and confirm that the document's content, format, and numbers of copies, are as required. Then refer to Authentication page on our website for different types of documents. We do not take responsibility if the authenticated documents are rejected for their purpose.
- Documents that are issued in the UK need to be legalised by Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or The Isle of Man Courts of Justice before submitting to us. Some documents may need to be notarised before sending to FCDO. Please refer to FCDO Legalisation Office.
Service Area/ Consular Jurisdiction
Scotland, North England (above Durham and Cumbria), and the Isle of Man.
Other documents originating from the south of the United Kingdom (south of Durham and Cumbria, including Guernsey and Jersey) and Northern Ireland should be sent to our London office for authentication.
Health Certificate
- Definition: Certificates, Diagnosis, Vaccine records, doctor's notes, etc. which are issued by government-approved medical centres, hospitals or GPs.
- Some types of health certificates need to be notarised by Solicitor/Notary Public before you can submit them to FCDO for legalisation. Please inquire with FCDO in terms of whether the documents need notarised.
- The TRO only accepts health-related documents which are legalised by the FCDO or Isle of Man Court of Justice.
- If the purpose of the health certificate is to apply for resident visa or resident permit in Taiwan. Please use the standard Health Check Form for Residency. Please also beware that the form is only valid for 3 months.
Police Records
- The TRO only accepts Police Certificates issued by ACRO Criminal Records Office. The ACRO Police Certificates can only be authenticated in our LONDON OFFICE.
Business and Other private documents
- Definition: Company Registration, professional documents, proof of product origin, etc.
- In most cases, business documents need to be notarised by Solicitor/Notary Public before it being legalised by FCDO and submitted to us.
