On April 8, TECRO hosted a reception at the Twin Oaks Estate, inviting members of the White House Press Corps for an exchange event. Nearly 40 U.S. journalists from over 20 major media outlets attended the reception, which featured lively interactions and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
In his remarks, Ambassador Alexander Yui highlighted that this year marks the 46th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA), which, alongside the Six Assurances, forms the cornerstone of Taiwan-U.S. interaction, and has been an important factor to peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.
Ambassador Yui also emphasized that Taiwan is a trustworthy and reliable partner for the United States and that Taiwan is an asset, not a liability. He expressed gratitude for the bipartisan support Taiwan receives from the United States and reaffirmed Taiwan's commitment to deepening cooperation with the United States across various sectors.
Jon Decker, Senior White House Correspondent for Gray TV, spoke on behalf of the White House Press Corps, thanking TECRO for inviting the White House Press Corps’ journalists to the reception and congratulating Taiwan on its long-standing democratic partnership with the United States.
The White House Press Corps is one of the largest and most influential media groups in Washington. This engagement between TECRO and its members helps enhance the U.S. media’s understanding of Taiwan-U.S. relations.
