The United States has consistently been Taiwan's most important agricultural trade partner. Not only is the U.S. the largest supplier of agricultural products to Taiwan, but it is also Taiwan's largest export market for agricultural products.
In 2024, the total agricultural trade between Taiwan and the U.S. reached $4.67 billion. Of this, Taiwan imported $3.78 billion worth of agricultural products from the U.S., accounting for more than one-fifth (21%) of its total agricultural imports. This includes beef ($700 million), soybeans ($490 million), corn ($410 million), wheat ($340 million), chicken ($260 million), potatoes ($84.92 million), and apples ($91.14 million). Notably, all of Taiwan's imported chicken comes from the U.S.
The U.S. is also the largest market for Taiwan's agricultural exports. In 2024, Taiwan's agricultural exports to the U.S. amounted to $890 million. Taiwanese products such as pineapple cakes, orchids, seafood, and tapioca pearls for bubble tea have become very popular among American consumers.
