Taiwan-Guam Bilateral agricultural cooperation moves a big step forward once again!On Oct. 31, TECO in Guam and the Government of Guam co-hosted the “2022 Taiwan-Guam Virtual Agriculture, Technology, Sustainability (ATS) Summit" online. Guam Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero, Lt. Gov. Joshua F. Tenorio and so forth on Guam side, and Taoyuan City Mayor Wen-Tsan Cheng, Douglas You-Dian Hsu, Director General of MOFA North American Affairs Department, Dr. Yen-Yi Lee, Director General of MOE International and Cross-Strait Education Department, TECO in Guam Director General Paul Chen, Guam Taiwan Office Guam Affairs Director Felix Yen and so forth on Taiwan side, took part jointly in this online meeting to witness the signing of a memorandum of agricultural cooperation between Taoyuan City Farmer’s Association and the Farmers Cooperative Association of Guam, with an aim to keep up the momentum of the sister city agreement signed by Taoyuan City and Guam in December 2021, so as to strengthen the Taiwan-Guam agricultural partnership.
In addition, six colleges and universities in Taiwan, including National Taiwan University, National Chung Hsing University, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, National Taitung University, and Yuan Ze University, also signed 6 academic-level memorandums of cooperation in agricultural science and technology with the College of Natural and Applied Sciences of UOG in today’s meeting. Industrial and academic sectors on both sides signed a total of 7 memorandums of agricultural cooperation that are definitely beneficial to government-industry-university agricultural exchanges between Taiwan and Guam in the future.
