On June 9, 2024, Mary Hattori, Director of the East-West Center's "Pacific Islands Development Program ," gives the opening remarks, thanking the guests for their enthusiastic participation. She expressed appreciation for the films presented by indigenous directors from Taiwan, Hawaii, and Guam, which focused on indigenous cultural issues such as land, gender, and ethnic identity, promoting cultural exchange among indigenous peoples in the Oceania region. On June 9, 2024, Director General Richard Lin is invited as a guest speaker to the opening ceremony of the "Indigenous Cross-Cultural Film Screening." He welcomed the visiting delegation, including Taiwan's indigenous groups, to Honolulu for the "13th Festival of Pacific Arts" (FestPAC), and encourags Taiwan and Hawaii to promote cultural exchange between their indigenous communities through this event. The event attracts approximately 190 to 210 audience On June 9, 2024, Director General Richard Lin (first from left) attended the “Forging an Inclusive Future in Oceania: Indigenous Cross-Cultural Film Screening" hosted by the East-West Center (EWC) at the Honolulu Museum of Art, an event sponsored by TECO in Honolulu. He encouraged Sayun Simung (second from left), founder of the Indigenous Film Academy of Taiwan (IFAT), to use this opportunity for furthering cultural exchange with the native Hawaiian community.
