From May 6 to 9, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung visited Texas to promote two-way Taiwan-U.S. cooperation. We are delighted to share with our friends across the Southern U.S. the key highlights of Minister Lin’s visit:
1. Leading in AI Revolution—Strong Taiwan-U.S. Industry Collaboration
At the “Taiwan–Texas AI Innovation Summit,” Minister Lin joined key partners from government, industry, and academia in Taiwan and the U.S. to witness the signing of the Texas–Taiwan Economic Cooperation Agreement, laying a strong foundation for future AI and investment partnerships. Taiwan aims to leverage its strengths in chip manufacturing and server integration to work with the U.S. in driving global AI development, and to reinforce its key role in the non-red supply chain.
2. Texas House Passes Pro-Taiwan Resolution—Deepening State-Level Support
Minister Lin was invited to the Texas House of Representatives to receive a Taiwan-friendly resolution from Speaker Dustin Burrows. The resolution recognizes Taiwan’s achievements in democracy and economic development, and affirms Taiwan as a trusted partner for the U.S. in areas such as smart machinery, IoT, biotechnology, energy, defense, semiconductors, and the circular economy.
3. Promoting the “Taiwan Tower” in Houston—A One-Stop Service Platform
Minister Lin met with Houston Mayor John Whitmire, who expressed support for the proposed “Taiwan Tower.” The future Taiwan Tower will integrate investment, innovation, finance, and telecommunications resources to serve as a one-stop service platform. It is also planned to be the new home of TECO in Houston!
From strengthening economic ties and AI cooperation to advancing investment infrastructure, Minister Lin’s visit to the U.S. was more than a diplomatic mission—it was a clear demonstration of Taiwan’s determination to work hand-in-hand with the United States for a shared and prosperous future.
