General Information for notarization/verification
- Service areas: Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston is only authorized to service documentations issued within our service areas, including Texas , Arkansas , Louisiana , Mississippi , and Oklahoma .
- Documents can be notarized or verified through this office: Power of Attorney, Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Driving License, Academic Degree, Commercial Document, Marriage License, Divorce Decree.
- Please prepare an extra copy for filing.
- Notarization Stamps will affixed to the original document. If you want them intact, please advise us and have an extra copy ready.
- The processing fee for English documents is $15. Should a Chinese translation be needed, please have it done by yourself or a translator. This office does not offer traslation service. The processing fee to legalize a Chinese traslation is $15, however, the Chinese version must come with the English one. The processing fee is $30 for one set of English documen and the Chinese version. Please pay by cash, money order, or cashier check, payable to TECO in Houston. Personal checks are not accepted.
- Processing time: 5 days in person; 2-3 weeks by mail.
- If the application is done by mail, please have a postage-paid return envelope ready. This office will not be held liable for loss or any delay by mail. When using prepaid return envelopes from UPS, FedEx, or DHL, do not enter this office's information. Instead, use your own or a family member’s name and address as the sender.
- Except for official documents, all documents need to be notarized by a notary public. Please attach a copy of certificate of the notary public.
- Business documents and power of Attorney (about land and houses) to be authenticated must be certified by the Secretaries of States within our service area (Texas Secretary of State http://www.sos.state.tx.us/authinfo.shtml)
How to apply for legalization :
- The application form.
- Present the ID (passport or driver's license) to this office.
- Documents are to be legalized, and an extra copy is required for filing.

- a copy of the certificate of the notary public and then certified by the appropriate county/city, or state clerk
- postage-paid return envelope (if needed)
