Our office held a National Day Reception on 10/6 to celebrate the coming 111th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on 10/10. About 200 guests attended this event, including Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez, Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commission, Commissioner Joe Carollo of Miami City, Mayor Brent Latham of North Bay Village, and other distinguished guests.
Due to recent Hurricane Ian caused a huge loss of lives and property damage to Florida, our office donated 300,000 USD to the “Florida Disaster Fund” on behalf of our government to assist the state of Florida in the ongoing recovery, restoration and rescue efforts. The fund was received by Lieutenant Governor Nuñez on behalf of the Florida Government during the reception.
Attending the reception on behalf of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Lieutenant Governor Nuñez gave remarks to congratulate the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on their 111th National Day, and mentioned that these days Governor DeSantis and his wife have been working around on Hurricane Ian recovery, they appreciate Taiwan’s generosity and friendship and everything Taiwan did to ensure it has a good partnership with Florida. She would like the people of Taiwan to know that Florida stands with them and will always support them in their quest to make sure that freedom and democracy will prevail.
Director General Chi extended an expression of sympathy for our fellow Florida residents that have been hit hard by Hurricane Ian. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Governor DeSantis and his administration, Florida Senate and House of Representatives for their continued support and friendship, he also thanked them for bringing to our attention the issue of security risk posed to Florida and to the world by Communist China, and thanked them for standing together with Taiwan to fight for freedom and democracy against communism and authoritarian regimes.
