The reception took place on board the USS New York (LPD-21), a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock based in Norfolk, Virginia, and commissioned in 2019. The ship's name honors the victims of the September 11 attacks, and what makes it particularly special is that 7 tons of steel used in its construction came from the rubble of the World Trade Center, symbolizing the U.S.'s determination to fight terrorism, which is also expressed on the deck of the ship's wall, written as “Never Forget”.
Upon arrival, Director General Chou was welcomed with a ceremony by the Navy personnel on board. During the reception, Director General Chou interacted with dignitaries such as Commander Brendan McPherson of the 7th Coast Guard District, Commander Tom Williams of Expeditionary Strike Group Two, Captain Benjamin Oakes of USS New York, Chief of Staff Greg Smith at Navy Region Southeast, as well as Mayor Lamar Fisher of Broward County.
