"Ten Drum Art Percussion Group" toured on May 7th, stirring Central Florida with the "Impression of Taiwan"!!
May marks the "2024 U.S.-Taiwan Traditional Week and Canadian Asian Heritage Month." Overseas Taiwanese communities in the United States and Canada have organized various activities to celebrate. The Overseas Community Affairs Council, in collaboration with various government departments, dispatched Taiwan's famous "Ten Drum Art Percussion Group" to tour 13 cities in the eastern United States and Canada.
This visit marked the group in Orlando’s first performance, held at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
Director General Chou, accompanied by Secretary of Overseas Community Affairs Huang Steve Huang, attended the performance. Also present were Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, officials from the Orange County, other distinguished guests from Central Florida, UCF and TCML students, and more than 500 spectators.
Mayor Demings presented a certificate, acknowledging the Greater Orlando Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce's contribution to promoting economic development in Orange County. He praised the performance of the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group, which added to the climax of the annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month activities.
President Ms. Mary Liang of the Greater Orlando Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, the organizer, expressed great honor in inviting such an excellent performing group. She stated that through the cross-language exchange of drumming art, more people could witness the beauty of Taiwan.
Director General Chou welcomed the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group's first visit to Florida. He emphasized how the drumming art narrates the story of Taiwan's indigenous culture. He also encouraged everyone to visit Taiwan, especially the Ten Drum Cultural Village in southern Taiwan.
