On May 14, Director General Chou and Deputy Director Frank You were invited to visit Jacksonville.
Accompanied by Ms. Liao, a board member of the Florida Chinese Business Association, and her husband, Director General Chou and Deputy Director You first visited JAX USA, Jacksonville's economic development institution. There, they learned about Jacksonville's six key areas of development: advanced manufacturing, life sciences, logistics, high-tech services, financial services, and corporate operations. They then toured the Jacksonville Port (JAXPORT) to observe the operations of the container and automobile terminals. Numerous high-end cars, either manufactured in the United States or imported from Japan and Europe, were waiting at the port to be shipped by roll-on/roll-off vessels to markets in Puerto Rico, Central and South America, and Africa.
Director General Chou and JAX USA both believe there is considerable potential for cooperation between Taiwan and North Florida in expanding regional economic and trade development. Our office is eager to engage in extensive exchanges with the Florida government and JAX USA to jointly promote prosperity.
