The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce that Taiwanese artist Chia-Wei Hsu’s solo exhibition titled Chia-Wei Hsu: Black and White—Malayan Tapir at The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) will run through January 25, 2019.
The video installation-cum-documentary cuts across time and geography to tell the story of the Malayan tapir and its historical relationship with colonial powers and zoos in Southeast Asia. According to Hsu, his intention is “to use an encyclopedic narrative style to deal with issues of equality between people and non-humans, man and nature, and to explore changes in the way modern people view images.”
Venue: 1040 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Open Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 12–6pm, and by appointment
