The Bridge Disability Ministries at Washington State held a ceremony to express gratitude to the Cao Zhona Zhi Foundation and Pu Hsein Foundation for their wheelchairs and medical device donation on May 26th. Director General Daniel Chen of TECO in Seattle witnessed the donation including 82 wheelchairs, 100 canes, 60 pairs of crutches, and 32 commodes.
Director General Chen said that both Foundations in Taiwan have donated over 700,000 wheelchairs to Africa Latin America, and Middle East countries. This is the first time the donation reaches the States. Due to the congestion of the international shipment during the pandemic, it took half a year for the container to finally arrive in Seattle this March. This again showcases the love without borders of the Taiwanese people and proves that Taiwan and the United States are true partners.
Chair Daniel Choppin mentioned that the Ministries has been founded over 30 years, and more than 3,000 people are covered by their service. It established a new warehouse location at Tukwila two years ago to serve more low-income and disadvantaged families. This enormous donation would help more communities to be taken care of.
State Senator Bob Hasegawa, State Representative My-Linh Thai, Vandana Slatter, David Hackney, Deputy Mayor Jared Nieuwenhuis, District Director Glenn Carpenter, and dozens of community leaders, and government officials participated in the ceremony.
