The Press and Information Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium works to ensure that information is circulated to the public, the media and opinion leaders on a wide range of Taiwanese activities.
It is one of several information divisions set up in several EU member states to provide information on its operation and activities.
The Division acts as an intermediary between the authorities in Taipei and the public, media and other groups in Belgium and Luxembourg.
The Division makes extensive use of various means, activities and communications networks to help publicize its activities.
It assists and provides information to a wide range of people by developing various means of communication.
Providing publications on culture, tourism, education and politics is one of its main responsibilities. A library of audio-visual materials is available on a diverse range of subjects and may be borrowed free of charge.
Other items available include pamphlets, brochures and posters.
Another of its main tasks include ensuring that the media, the public and opinion leaders, including associations, civil society bodies and elected representatives, are made aware of all aspects of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
As the country's 'voice' in Belgium and Luxembourg, this includes providing background briefings for the media as well as on-the-record comment on relevant issues.
It also reports back to Taiwan on political, economic and social developments in the European Union and provides information about the EU and its institutions, including the parliament and commission.
