EU-Taiwan “Dialogue on Digital Economy” (DDE) ushers in new era of cooperation

On June 4 and 5, Minister of the National Development Council, Chen Mei-ling, together with the Director-General of Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, Roberto Viola, and Ambassador Harry Tseng launched the first ever “Taiwan-EU Dialogue on Digital Economy (DDE)”. Viola said that the digitalization policies of Taiwan and the EU show that there are many points of commonality in thinking and strategy between the two sides. He expressed hopes that Taiwan and the EU can enjoy further exchanges in Taipei in the near future.
Minister Chen discussed the ways in which artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, the digital cloud, big data and other modern technologies, once integrated into coherent ecosystem, will inevitably transform our economic and social structures, profoundly altering our way of life. Taiwan and the EU are alike in taking seriously the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital revolution.
The dialogue focused on a range of issues relating to the digital economy, facilitating a broad range of discussions and opening a new era in digital economic cooperation be the two sides.
