Kaohsiung’s “Taiwan Chorus” will perform in the well-known landmark- Church Notre-Dame du Sablon de Bruxelles on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 15:00. They will bring more than 10 popular and exquisite songs, including religious and Taiwanese artistic songs as well as folk ballads. This concert will be led by chorus conductor Mr. Wu Hung-Chang who is also lead tenor. Mrs. Huang Chao-Hsun is deputy conductor and Mrs. Wu Ting-Hsuan is lead soprano. Mrs. Chen Yi-Chen accompanies.
“Taiwan Chorus” was established in Kaohsiung in 1992. Currently it has over 90 chorus members whose singing quality is excellent. Mr. Wu Hung-Chang is chief and conductor of the chorus. Since its debut the chorus has the objective to make traditional Taiwanese songs popular. The chorus performs often and every year takes part in several international music festivals. Their performances achieve praise and attention in local and overseas musical circles. Every year the chorus produces several CD’s and DVD’s of their live performances in order to do their utmost to preserve the music culture of Taiwan. They promote the folk songs of Taiwan in many countries so as to spread the beauty of the musical culture of Taiwan to every corner of the world. Therefore, for several years now “Taiwan Chorus” has had the honour to receive the Council of Cultural Affairs’ ‘Outstanding Supporter of the Fine Arts’ award, giving them the reputation of best endorser of national music.
“Taiwan Chorus” knows how to capture an audience with their fine-tuned singing and receives a high level of international approval. They frequently perform abroad. Their path already led to many European, American and Asian countries. Now their 14th consecutive year of international performances brings them to Brussels.
