Due to the recent torrential rain, some of the roads in Taiwan’s low-lying and mountainous areas have been damaged. The areas affected by the rainstorm are mostly in remote areas.
Except for Alishan, most parts of Taiwan frequented by overseas and domestic tourists have not been affected. Domestic and overseas flights are operating as normal. Travel on tourism routes is smooth. Public facilities and private businesses that serve tourists are also functioning as usual. Tourists have no need to worry and can be assured of safe travels in Taiwan.
Among the areas not affected by the recent weather are top attractions for tourists, such as: Taipei 101, Ximending, the National Palace Museum, Jiufen, Danshui, Sun Moon Lake,
Taichung, Tainan, Kaoshiung, Kenting and Penghu. Be it the scenic sites, accommodations, restaurants or roads, none of these areas have been affected, and tourism activities are being carried out as normal.
The area affected is the Alishan scenic mountain. Heavy rain has damaged some of the roads on the mountain, causing closure of the roads. As a result, the scenic mountain is
currently closed to tourists. Taroko Gorge, also a top tourist attraction, is still open to tourists. Roads are in good condition, but some of the hiking trails in the park have been closed to ensure the safety of tourists. They will be reopened once park authorities have determined they are safe.
In terms of public transportation in Taiwan, international and domestic flights and road
transport are functioning as normal, so are the railway and High Speed Rail. The roads that were damaged are in remote areas that are not tourist areas. Repairs are actively being
undertaken.
Individual and group tourists do not need to worry when they visit Taiwan at this time and will not encounter travel delays or inconvenience. We welcome everyone to visit Taiwan.
