Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, Deputy Representative Steven Tai and other officials of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore attended the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan’s celebration on 27 February 2017 to commemorate its 147th anniversary cum the birthday of the Chen Yuan En Zhu Gong of the Tang Dynasty. Also present at the celebration were clan delegates from the Johor Kim Tong Har Association, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, and the Singapore Chin Kang Huay Kuan.
In his address, Representative Liang paid tribute to the clan’s forebears who founded the Wu Jiang Fu Ji Miao (temple), the predecessor of Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan,147 years ago. Over the years, the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan has promoted Chinese culture and values, and actively encouraged business, cultural and educational exchanges between Taiwan and Singapore. The association’s successive leaders, outstanding entrepreneurs in their own right, have continually won the praise of the government and people of Singapore for their public spirit and philanthropic generosity.
Mr. Chua Kee Seng, President of the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan, was happy to note that following the launch of health and sports related programs spearheaded by the Youth wing of the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, the various Chinese clan associations are seeing more young persons attending their events. This is a positive development as the associations review and develop their succession plans to meet current and future challenges.
