Representative Francis Liang Kuo-Hsin, alongside His Excellency Ong Ye Kung, Singapore’s Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence, and Mr. Anthony Tan Kang Uei, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Press Holding, were at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Taiwan Pavilion at Singapore Book Fair 2017 on 31 May 2017.
Themed "Awaken Your Curiosity; Free Your Imagination", the Taiwan Pavilion featured over 15,000 books of various genres by more than 100 Taiwanese publishers. Through a line-up of 27 literary events, musicals and film shows over a six-day period, the Taiwan Pavilion aims to encourage a deeper appreciation of Taiwan literature through music and films. The showcase of Taiwanese new residents’ works, independent book stores, independent publishing alliances and publications by non-governmental organizations also added a unique flavor to the Taiwan Pavilion.
Organized by the Singapore Press Holding's Chinese Media Group, the Singapore Book Fair is in its 32nd year this year. It is held from 30 May to 5 June at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre.
