General Requirements:
- TECO Boston can only authenticate documents issued from the state of MA, RI, VT, ME, and NH.

Please prepare all general required documents along with the specific document you are looking to authenticate, as listed in the additional requirements section.
- Completed Application Form for Authentication
- Applicant’s original Taiwan (and / or) U.S. passport (Photocopy if mailing).
- Agent's original Taiwan (and / or) U.S. passport if submitting documents on behalf of the applicants
- Your ORIGINAL document to be authenticated (Please see below for additional documents you need for YOUR documents to be authenticated)
*All supporting documents for authentication must be original; photocopies or notarized copies are not accepted.
- Application Fee:
Mail-in Service: $15/ document.
Walk-in Service: $22.50/ document including on-site expedited service fee
Payment Methods:
*TECO Boston ONLY accepts cash, money order, and cashier's check (Payable to TECO)
Chinese Translation:
*NOTE: If Chinese translation is needed, applicants must provide the translated document, and the translator's signature must be notarized by a local notary public for mail-in service. Translation authentication can be completed in person without notarization.
*Applicants must also certify one English document for EACH Chinese translation. Application fee is $15 + $15 per set of English and Chinese documents for mail-in service, or $22.50 + $22.50 for walk-in service.
Prepaid Self-Address Envelope:
A prepaid self-addressed envelope is required for those who mail in the application for document authentication and wish for TECO to send back the authenticated documents (via UPS and USPS only).
* If the applicant is in Taiwan, please include US$76 for international express mail postage along with the application fee. This office is not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen items sent by mail at the applicant's request.
Processing Time:
Mail-in Service: 5-7 Business Days. (We will mail out the documents early if the process is completed early)
Walk-in Service: 20-25 minutes (with expedited service)
Additional Requirements:
Power of Attorney:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Power of Attorney (for applicants visiting TECO in person)
- Notarized Power of Attorney (for applicants mailing their POA to the office)
*Applicants who wish to include their Chinese name on the POA form must present a valid Taiwanese passport.
*If the Taiwanese passport is expired, applicants should submit a household registration form issued within the last three months (or the national ID card) along with a valid photo ID such as a foreign passport, resident card, or driver's license if they wish to include the Chinese name on the form.
Diploma:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original diploma
- Original official transcript directly sent to bostonvisa@mofa.gov.tw from your school (or a sealed official transcript)
*The photocopy of the diploma needs to notarized by a notary public in MA, RI, VT, ME, or, NH if submit application through mail.
* Please mail in your original diploma if living outside of TECO Boston’s jurisdiction
Transcript:
All general requirements apply, along with:

Proof of Enrollment:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Enrollment letter directly sent to bostonvisa@mofa.gov.tw from your school (or a sealed official enrollment letter)
Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certificate:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original marriage certificate (or)
- Original (and/or) a true copy of the divorce papers from the court (please indicate the effective date of divorce on the application form).
- Original Taiwanese passport or the passport held by the other party (photocopy if mailed)
- (or) A simple statement explaining why applicants cannot provide the other party's passport (or photocopy) when authenticating a divorce certificate, possibly due to privacy, legal restrictions, or other reasons
Business Document, Adoption Document:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original business or adoption documents to be authenticated.
*Original documents must be notarized by a local notary public and the Secretary of State of the state where the paper is issued.
Birth Certificate:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original birth certificate.
- Original Taiwanese passport of parents and child's US passport (photocopy if mailed).
*If one parent does not have a Taiwanese passport, please provide the passport held by the parent.
Death Certificate:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original death certificate.
- Original passport of the deceased person if he or she is a Taiwanese national.
- Original Taiwanese passport of the agent (photocopy if mailed).
- Proof of family relationship (national ID card, household registration form, or birth certificate).
Health Certificate:
All general requirements apply, along with:
- Original health certificate (with the stamp on top of the first page and the signature of the doctor on the second page)
