Governors Philip B. Scott (Vermont) and Daniel J. McKee (Rhode Island) recently extended congratulatory citations to Dr. William Lai Ching-te and Ambassador Hsiao Bi-khim who will be sworn in as the Republic of China’s (Taiwan) President and Vice President on May 20, 2024. In addition, the State Legislatures of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont also passed resolutions praising Taiwan’s successful presidential election and congratulating Dr. Lai and Ambassador Hsiao on their election victory and inauguration.
We sincerely appreciate the support and friendship to Taiwan from our friends who serve in the legislatures of New England and for recognizing Taiwan’s democratic achievements. TECO-Boston, as Taiwan’s de facto Consulate General in Boston, remains committed to promoting Taiwan-New England ties, including said states, in terms of trade and investment, culture, education, and other fields and looks forward to strengthening our bilateral relations even further.
