Professor Loring Tu, a Taiwanese-American mathematics professor who has taught at Tufts University for 38 years, donated over 10 million to the university last year to support students. In appreciation, the university decided to rename its Science and Engineering Complex to the "Tsungming Tu Complex," in honor of Professor Tu's grandfather, Tsungming Tu. Dr. Tsungming Tu is regarded as the father of modern medicine in Taiwan, having made significant contributions to the country’s medical and educational fields.
On April 2, Tufts University held a ceremony to inaugurate the building’s new name, with Director-General Charles Liao attending as a guest and delivering a speech honoring Professor Tu’s generosity. Director Liao expressed his gratitude for his deep commitment to education, a lifelong endeavor that has made him an outstanding role model in the educational community. Professor Tu is truly a shining light for Taiwan!
