The Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago is an overseas branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The Division’s service area covers 10 states in the U.S. Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The mission of the Division is to promote economic relationships between Taiwan and the Midwest region of the United States to enhance bilateral trade, increase investment and engage in technology cooperation. This is accomplished by various means, such as:
Attracting U.S. companies to invest in Taiwan;
Assisting Taiwan companies with promoting their products and services in the United States;
Inviting U.S. buyers to attend trade shows and industry exhibitions in Taiwan;
Developing and maintaining contacts between companies from Taiwan and the U.S. MIdwest; and
Assisting Taiwan companies with recruiting U.S. talent and people with needed skills to work in Taiwan.
