Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke has hosted the 2nd Food Drive Fest, which took place on April 18th and 19th 2024 in her office. Members from State Government, State Legislature and the public have actively participated. Deputy Director Nicole Wang, on behalf of TECO, also joined this event and made a donation of Taiwanese food.
Under the impact of climate change and conflicts in regions, more and more people around the world are facing food security crises. Food insecurity and malnutrition have become challenges for children and families across Hawaii. As part of the Hawaii ohana, TECO in Honolulu can’t miss this wonderful event and make contributions too! Thanks to Lieutenant Governor Luke, her team and the Hawaii Foodbank for giving Taiwan the opportunity to demonstrate once again the spirit of "Taiwan Can Help, and Taiwan is Helping!". We hope the event a great success.
In addition to donations from all walks of life in Hawai, there were also a variety of local Hawaiian foods on display at this event; Hawaii's "Food Drive Fest" aims to support Hawaii Foodbank and local businesses. This event was launched by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke. Lieutenant Governor Luke and her husband Michael Luke are the co-chairs of the event initiative. This event is expected to raise 50,000 pounds of food and US$167,000 in monetary donations. (E)
