The Press Division serves as a press liaison and promotes public diplomacy in the UK, aiming to communicate government policies, enhance understanding of Taiwan, promote Taiwan’s visibility and UK support for Taiwan, as well as highlight Taiwanese soft power and build Taiwan’s international image.
The main responsibilities of the Press Division include:
- Liaising with the British press to communicate about the government’s policies and positions and enhance understanding of Taiwan, alongside disseminating Taiwan's progress and development across various fields to increase Taiwan’s visibility in the UK. In addition, it also promotes UK support for Taiwan on important issues.
- Expanding public diplomacy, promoting Taiwan’s soft power, and enhancing Taiwan-UK interactions across all sectors.
- Managing social media, and gathering and analysing important opinions/reports from the press regarding Taiwan.
- Assisting British media to report on Taiwan, inviting journalists to visit Taiwan, and facilitating Taiwanese journalists to cover stories in the UK.
- Providing informative/promotional materials regarding Taiwan such as government policy pamphlets, as well as cultural and tourism magazines and leaflets.
